Joint study from Laboratory of Nano-Bioengineering of NRNU MEPhI and a number of leading Russian and foreign research centers published in Journal of Materials Chemistry C

The prestigious international Journal of Materials Chemistry C has published a joint study from the Laboratory of Nano-Bioengineering (LNBE) of NRNU MEPhI, ITMO University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Russia), University of Exeter (UK), and University of Reims (France) on an innovative technology for engineering and fabrication of nanostructured materials (E. The authors have developed a method of bottom-up layer-by-layer assembly of CdSe quantum dots into highly ordered superstructures.

The resultant supercrystals are characterized by a layered morphology and four-fold symmetry, which confers them unique optical properties, in particular, an unusually strong birefringence. The material developed could be especially useful for designing novel optoelectronic devices.

The Journal of Materials Chemistry C is a journal of the Royal Chemical Society, UK, that publishes papers on the study, properties, and practical applications of novel materials in optics, electronics, magnetics, and information storage. It is a top-rated international journal included in the first quartile (Q1) with an impact factor of 6.0. This study is the first publication from LNBE in this journal.
