International collaboration in optical and scanning probe nanostructure characterization: Joint events of MEPhI, SNOTRA LLC, and University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (France)

LNBE and the Laboratory for Research in Nanoscience (Laboratoire de Recherche en Nanosciences, LRN) of the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA), France, have a long history of fruitful collaboration in various fields of research and developments. One of them is correlative 3D nanostructure characterization using combined optical and scanning probe techniques carried out in the framework of the project "Development of an experimental method of high-resolution multi-variable correlation analysis of the optical and morphological properties in bulk nanomaterials" of the Federal Target Program on Research and Development in Priority Fields of the Science and Technology Complex of Russia for 2014–2020 (project no. 14.587.21.0021; state project identifier, RFMEFI58715X0021).

The last weeks of 2016 witness two events in the framework of this project.

The first of these Russian–French events, 2nd International Meeting "Future of Correlation Scanning-Probe and Light Microspectroscopy", was held in Moscow on December 21. Apart from short oral and poster communications, the following plenary lectures were presented:

- Scanning Probe Nanotomography (SPNT)—The combination of SPM and Ultramicrotomy by Dr. Konstantin Mochalov (LNBE, NRNU MEPhI)

- Scanning probe nanotomography—Advances and challenges by Dr. Anton Efimov (SNOTRA LLC, Skolkovo)

- Near-field microscopy techniques for nanostructure characterization by Prof. Michaël Molinari (LRN, URCA)

The second French–Russian event, International Colloquium "Optical and Probe Techniques for Nanostructure Characterization", is to be held at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne, France, on December 26 in the framework of a joint Russian–French project supported by the Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France. The colloquium is essentially a continuation of the Moscow meeting; its main plenary lectures are:

- Colloidal nanocrystals as novel material for photonic applications by Prof. Igor Nabiev, Ph.D., D.Sc. (LNBE, NRNU MEPhI & LRN, URCA)

- The novel method for characterization of nanohybrid materials: Scanning probe nanotomography (SPNT) by Konstantin Mochalov, Ph.D. (LNBE, NRNU MEPhI)

- AFM nanomechanics, Kelvin probe force microscopy and SEM/TEM cathodoluminescence for nanostructure characterization by Prof. Michaël Molinari, Ph.D., (LRN, URCA)
