Paper from LNBE "Fabrication of composite materials from semiconductor quantum dots and organic polymers for optoelectronics and biomedicine: role of surface ligands" published in the Russian Chemical Bulletin

Researchers from LNBE have published a review article Fabrication of composite materials from semiconductor quantum dots and organic polymers for optoelectronics and biomedicine: role of surface ligands in the Russian Chemical Bulletin.

Owing to the unique optical properties of colloidal quantum dots and simple techniques for their application onto various surfaces, they are widely used in optical converters for light-emitting devices, solar cells, and bio-functionalized nanoprobes for detecting disease markers. Quantum dots can be used in all these fields in combination with polymer materials serving as neutral  matrices for radiation converters, donors or acceptors in the active layer of solar cells, or surface ligands in biomedical applications.

The review summarizes recent advances in the above areas of application of quantum-dot-based composites and highlights the key approaches to designing hybrid nanocomposites and using them in advanced optoelectronics and biomedicine.

The Russian Chemical Bulletin is a translation of the Izvestiya Akademii Nauk: Seriya Khimicheskaya, one of the leading Russian academic journals, translated and published in English by Springer. The journal, founded in 1936, publishes papers on all branches of chemistry, as well as interdisciplinary studies.
