Project submitted by a young researcher of the LNBE won a competition of pilot research projects performed by young researchers

A project on Resonance Energy Transfer in Nano–Bio Hybrid Structures Composed of Semiconductor Nanocrystals and the Photosensitive Protein Bacteriorhodopsin upon Single- and Two-Photon Excitation submitted by Viktor Krivenkov, a young researcher of LNBE, won a competition of pilot research projects performed by young researchers. The competition has been held by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

The two-year project is aimed at exploring the possibility of engineering a nano–bio hybrid material capable of photoelectric conversion upon nonlinear (two-photon) photoexcitation out of fluorescent nanocrystals and bacteriorhodopsin, a photosensitive protein. The ultimate goal of this research is to extend the applications of fluorescent nanocrystals and photosynthetic biological systems in the fields of optoeletronics and photoelectric converters.
