The NAMDIATREAM project, where Professor Igor Nabiev, leading scientist of LNBE, directs one of the key branches, is announced the best EC nanotechnological project

NAMDIATREAM (Nanotechnological Toolkits for Multi-Modal Disease Diagnostics and Treatment Monitoring), one of the largest projects in the European Community, has been announced the best among more than 1000 projects in Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials and Production that have ever been supported by EC. Igor Nabiev, leading scientist of the Laboratory of Nano-Bioengineering of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Russia, and professor at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne, France, directs Semiconductor Nanocrystals, the main technological platform of NAMDIATREAM.

The project was ranked the first at the 7th EuroNanoForum Conference (EuroNanoForum 2015), an international forum on nanotechnologies and advanced materials. It was held in Riga, Latvia, in the first half of June and was attended by more than 1200 participants. The decision was announced at the conference closing ceremony by Clara de la Torre, director for Key Enabling Technologies of the EC Directorate General for Research and Innovation.

The goal of NAMDIATREAM is development of new generations of diagnostic systems for detecting markers of several types of malignant tumors accounting for a total of 4.5 million new cases annually.

NAMDIATREAM's multidisciplinary technologies are based on novel nanotechnological approaches enabling multiplexed detection of cancer markers at the initial stages of tumor formation.

NAMDIATREAM is carried out jointly by 22 partners from Ireland, Spain, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, including two transnational companies (Nikon and Becton Dickinson) and seven other hi-tech companies.

The European Technological Platform "Semiconductor Nanocrystals" directed by Professor Nabiev is one of the key components of this large-scale project. It combines efforts of six European partners; LNBE is an associated member of this technological platform.
