Representatives of three research groups of LNBE will make oral presentations at the SPIE Photonics West international conference,

which is to be held in San Francisco, CA, United States, on February 1–6, 2014.

SPIE Photonics West 2014 will be one of the largest international forums of specialists in photonics, biomedical optics, optoelectronics, and microelectromechanical systems.

This event will include several conferences, including

BiOS (biophotonics),

OPTO (optoelectronic devices and materials),

LASE (lasers and laser application), and

MOEMS-MEMS (micro- and nanooptics),

as well as the exhibitions

BiOS Expo and

Photonics West.

LNBE will present two studies in the Colloidal Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications IX section of the BiOS conference. The Nanochemistry Group will present their latest developments the synthesis of multishell quantum dots with an extremely high quantum yield (Photoluminescence Quantum Yield of CdSe/ZnS/CdS/ZnS Core-Multishell Quantum Dots Approaches 100% Due to Enhancement of Charge Carrier Confinement).

The Nanomedicine Group is to present the results of the study on Large Nonlinear and Linear Optical Responses in a Hybrid Nano-Biomaterial Engineered from Bacteriorhodopsin and Semiconductor Quantum Dots.

The Nano-Heterostructures Group will be represented at the Physics, Simulation, and Photonic Engineering of Photovoltaic Devices III section of the OPTO conference, where a report on Hybrid Bulk Heterojunction Solar Cells Based on Low-Band-Gap Polymers and CdSe Nanocrystals will be given.
