LNBE's resent development for single nano-object spectrometry

A joint study from the Laboratory of Nano-Bioengineering (LNBE) of NRNU MEPhI, Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) on nanospectrophotometry, a new method for nanoscale measurement of the absorption spectra of single nano-objects, was published in the Technical Physics Letters (K. The challenge of measuring the absorption spectrum of a single nanoscale object is solved by using scanning near-field optical microspectroscopy. The novelty of the development described in the paper consists in that fluorescence is excited in the total internal reflection mode in samples deposited on coverglass plates. The suggested approach not only reduces the cost of analysis and allows the number of samples analyzed to be substantially increased, but also does not hinder the study of these samples by other methods of optical analysis.

The Technical Physics Letters is the English version of the Russian journal Pisma v Zhurnal Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki offering rapid publication of developments in theoretical and experimental physics with potential technological applications. The original Russian journal has been published by the Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Ioffe Institute) since 1975; the English version was started in 2000.
