Research and Education Center for Nano–Bio Hybrid Materials with Energy Transfer Properties

23 May 2012 the Research and Education Center (REC) for Hybrid Nano–Bio Materials with Energy Transfer Properties was founded at LNBE of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute/National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI) in cooperation with the Shemyakin–Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBC RAS).

The REC, organized in the framework of the priority program "Nanosystem Industry," is intended for advanced training of both beginners and experienced specialists in nano-bioengineering, medicine, biophysics, development of optoelectronic and biophotonic systems, and nanosafety.

The nearest plans of the REC include the formation of efficient research Groups that are expected to obtain cutting-edge results in specific fields of research. The new center will combine the expertise and potential of Nanocenter and chairs of Physics of Micro- and Nanosystems (Chair no. 81), Computer Simulation and Physics of Nanostructures and Superconductors (Chair no. 77), and Physical and Engineering Problems of Metrology (Chair no. 78) of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute.

The REC for Hybrid Nano–Bio Materials with Energy Transfer Properties has received the highest organizational support from the authorities of the NRNU MEPhI and IBC RAS—Professor M.N. Strikhanov, Rector of NRNU MEPhI and Academician V.T. Ivanov, Director of IBC RAS are members of the Science and Engineering Board of the REC.

Professor I.R. Nabiev, Leading Scientist of LNBE, professor of the University of Reims Champagne‐Ardenne, France, Director of European Technological Platform "Semiconductor Nanocrystals," is the chair of the REC's Science and Engineering Board.
