Order on the establishment of the Interdepartmental Laboratory of Nano-Bioengineering at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute/National Research Nuclear University MEPhI

Rector of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute/National Research Nuclear University MEPhI signed the order on the establishment of the Interdepartmental Laboratory of Nano-Bioengineering (LNBE). on 3 November 2012. Leading LNBE researchers are international-level specialists in nanochemistry, nano-heterostructure design and analysis, nano-hybrid film materials, biophysics, and nanomedicine.

At present the LNBE staff comprises six doctors of science, eight candidates of sciences (a degree approximately corresponding to a doctor of philosophy), five diplomaed specialists (this approximately corresponds to a master of science degree), four postgraduate students, and three graduate students.

The LNBE sets the ambitious tasks of winning a leading position in nanomedical diagnostic methods, developing a new generation of nano–bio hybrid photovoltaic cells, and studying nanolevel energy transfer.

In 2011 Moscow Engineering Physics Institute/National Research Nuclear University MEPhI won three grants in in the framework of the Program of the Russian Federation Government "Measures for Attraction of Leading Scientists to Russian Institutions of Higher Education," which was one of the best results among Russian higher education establishments. These grants are the largest research and education projects of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation. They are intended for organizing up-to-date laboratories headed by world-renowned scientists at Russian universities and colleges.

Igor Rufailovich Nabiev, a professor of the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, a 1980 alumnus of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, a leading European researcher in the synthesis and analysis of nano–bio hybrid materials, and the founder of the Laboratory of Nano-Bioengineering, has won the grant in nanotechnology for Moscow Engineering Physics Institute/National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.
